What do you think the reason is for the sudden health and fitness craze?
Like anything, trends come and go. Clean eating, juicing, the NutriBullet all came about and as a natural progression, I think the world of fitness just sky-rocketed. It's all about being #StrongNotSkinny which for me, is such a positive way to look at training and exercise, especially as a female. Exercising can be a very emotional topic and the way it's being positioned at the moment, in my eyes, is super inspiring. With the help of worldwide fitness figures too such as Kayla Itsines, the way women look at fitness now seems to be more universal and achievable, rather than this scary/intimidating place where nothing is possible. There's a sense of community now and celebration.

What are your workout style essentials?
I love my gloves to protect my hands whilst riding and lifting weights. They're by Nike and they're so pretty - and pink! What are the best foods to eat post-workout?
Good nutrition to recover the whole body is essential and how you'll get results. Food is 80% of what you do. Exercising breaks down muscle tissue which is how it becomes stronger, so in order to build strength, we need protein and carbohydrates to recover and stay energised. Your body goes to carbohydrates as the first source of energy, so it's important you eat complex carbs at least 1-2 hours before your workout and within one hour afterwards to ensure you're body isn't eating up lean muscle to recover. Proteins, superfoods, nutrients and minerals are what the body needs. You lose up to 2 litres of water when you exercise, so it's absolutely essential you replace water, minerals and nutrients after a workout...
Exercise is about relief, self-belief and mental strength as well as the physical.
And before your workout...?
For a quick boost before a class or workout, I have a tablespoon or two of cashew or peanut butter - it's a fab source of energy and tastes so good! Plus a superfood shake is probably one of the best things you could have post-workout, especially the ones at Psycle's Energy Kitchen. They're packed with protein, good fats and vitamins - "Double Time" with almond milk, raspberries, blueberries and spinach is my favourite.
What are you favourite types of exercise?
As well as Psycle (obvs) I love a bit of HIIT (high intensity interval training) and weight training. A 30-minute HIIT workout is the best way for me to de-stress as well as completely blitz my whole body in a short space of time. I also love the fact that you can completely tailor your own HIIT workout, whether it's interval training with some free weights, on the treadmill, or completely using your own bodyweight - its the best way to get your heart rate going and to burn calories throughout the day.
What are your best tips to help people stick to a regime?
Get yourself a training buddy, someone who enjoys working out too to keep you motivated and stick to your routine. This way, you can hold yourself accountable for missing a day and will therefore feel more obligated to do it when you have someone there to do it with. It takes three weeks to build a habit, so keep it regular, put times and dates in your diary to help you stick to it.

What are the other benefits of exercise as opposed to just losing weight?
As mentioned I am a big believer in motivation, it's the one thing I am most passionate about. My classes are focused around motivating, inspiring and working together as a team. The sense of teamwork in a room where everyone is pushing their limits, sweating out their days and anything else going on is absolutely out of this world. It's magical. There are riders that come out of my class and say 'I was in the worst mood when I came in, now, I'm literally in the best mood.' Exercise is about relief, self-belief and mental strength as well as the physical benefits. I have clients who come to me solely for me to help change their attitude and mindset towards exercise and to help them be and feel more positive.
Name your top tunes at the moment
Name your top tunes at the moment
So many tunes. My class is usually full of old school RnB and hip hop - they don't make stuff like that anymore! I'm loving Major Lazer at the moment though, there is no one like them and have been around for a while.

What is it you love about spinning as a form of exercise?
There's nothing better than the idea of just 'riding'. The bike doesn't ride you, you're in control and this sense of control is what helps me motivate my riders. It gives people a sense of confidence and allows people to push themselves to their absolute maximum. I don't believe in going to turn up my riders resistance, I want to guide, inspire and motivate them to do it themselves, to feel in control, feel powerful and know when they step out that room that they did that all by themselves. There's never a class where you're not dripping with sweat and I love that!
